KORATE

APRICOT, PASSION FRUIT, BERRIES

When it comes to natural/dry processed coffees, you won't find better examples than what is produced in Ethiopia. Why is that the case? The strong genetic diversity of heirloom coffee trees provides the flavor structure, whereas long traditions of excellent natural/dry processing methods provide those big, full fruit notes that send this coffee over the top.

KORATE comes from the Korate Processing Station located in Korate Village in Western Guji. Over 116 registered small farmers deliver cherry to the processing station, many of whom farm 2 hectares or less of coffee. Farms in this area sit between 1900 and 2100 meters above sea level.

The Korate Processing Station is owned and operated by Ato Solomon Worku and SMS PLC. Ato Solomon was one of the first to introduce the concept of specialty coffee to Ethiopian coffee production. SMS PLC was established in 1998 and now owns washing stations in Komato, Korate, Gola, and Koke.
